The earth’s ecosystem is robust but not completely secure. Enormous efforts are now needed to ensure that our children’s and grandchildren’s generations do not suffer dramatic consequences of climate change and the loss of important resources.
In order for this to be achieved we need contributions from companies and individual citizens, in addition to political action.
Our aims
As the sector leader, at Vaillant we are aware of these responsibilities. We have therefore set environmental protection as a primary target:

- Optimising materials and products from an environmental perspective
Therefore, our engineers do their best to constantly increase the efficiency of our heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. In addition, they are also working tirelessly on continually increasing the performance and profitability of alternative energy sources. We are constantly on the lookout for technologies which will minimise the use of fossil fuels such as oil and gas.
Renewable energies
In the use of renewable energies, in addition to solar power, we see great potential in the continued development of heat pumps. These use heat from the outside air and from the ground for heating, water heating and air conditioning in your home.
Using the Vaillant geoTHERM heat pump you can make considerable savings in the heating and climate-control of a detached house. When using the geoTHERM, every year you will use free environmental energy which is equal to the consumption and CO2 emissions of a medium class car which travels almost 40,000 kilometres per year. This has been confirmed by independent studies.
One of our most important projects in this area is the development of the Vaillant Zeolith heat pump which emits at least 40% less CO2 than a condensing technology system.
In addition, we are one of the trendsetters in the forward-thinking field of fuel cell technology. Our research projects are supported by the Federal German Ministry for Business and Technology, the EU and the US Department of Energy.

When manufacturing our products we always place a strict focus on ensuring the environmental burden is kept as low as possible. This applies both to the production process and energy consumption, and to the selection of environmentally-friendly materials.
